Bulimia
Bulimia
Bulimia (or Bulimia Nervosa) is a serious eating disorder characterized by binging, which is followed by purging. It involves consuming a large amount of food in a short period of time, with purging to get rid of the food done through self-induced vomiting or the use of laxatives. Other methods can include the use of diuretics, stimulants, fasting, or excessive exercise.
This repetitive cycle can cause damage to the digestive system and create chemical imbalances in the body, which in turn harms the functioning of major organs, including the heart. This eating disorder can be secretive and hidden from the sufferer’s friends and family for a long time.
Other Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are a group of conditions defined by unhealthy eating habits that harm an individual’s mental and physical health.
