Anorexia
Anorexia (or Anorexia Nervosa) is a psychological and life-threatening eating disorder. Those who suffer from it are typically at an extremely low body weight for their height and body type, due to an intentional restriction of energy intake.
The way sufferers see themselves often contradicts what others see—they frequently have a distorted self-image and believe they are overweight, while in reality they are well below a healthy weight. They also experience a deep and persistent fear of gaining weight. Anorexia can affect people of all ages, genders, races, and ethnicities.
